Global Aquaculture Director, Alltech
Originally from Argentina, Jorge Arias received his agronomy degree from the Universidad Nacional del Litoral. He worked for the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) in the animal science department before moving to Kentucky in 1985 to complete his master’s and Ph.D. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Lincoln University in New Zealand, focused on ingestive and grazing behavior in ruminant animals. In 1993, he returned to U.S. and began work at Alltech as a postdoctoral fellow in the research lab. He has been involved in aquaculture since 1994 and began managing Alltech’s aquaculture program in Latin America in 1998. During this time, he also served as the manager of several Latin America countries and as sales manager for Latin America for Alltech. He returned to Kentucky in 2005 to become global director of Optigen®, Alltech’s non-protein nitrogen source for ruminant nutrition. In 2009, he was named global director of aqua at Alltech.
