Vice President of Operations/General Manager for Chief Ethanol Fuels, Inc.
Duane Kristensen is vice president of operations/general manager for Chief Ethanol Fuels, Inc, a 72 million gallon facility located in Hastings, Nebraska. He has been involved in ethanol production since 1986, and has broad experience in many facets of the industry. His family owns and operates a farm, which is a diversified crop and livestock operation; the crops are primarily irrigated corn and soybeans. The livestock operation consists of cow/calf production management incorporated with a backgrounding program. He is the chairperson for the Chancellors Alumni Advisory Committee and the past president of the College of Agricultural Science and Natural Resources Alumni Board at his alma mater, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He serves on numerous advisory boards, including as an executive board member with the Association of Nebraska Ethanol Producers, the vice president for the American Coalition for Ethanol and past president of the Hastings Economic Development Corporation. Kristensen has recently been appointed to the Ethanol “A” team for the U.S. Grains Council for research and development of ethanol export demand. As a recognized authority on the production, marketing, and promotion of ethanol, he is a frequent panelist at conferences around the world. Kristensen has been involved in the legislative process that has encouraged ethanol production in his state for more than 20 years, and he was the first president of the Association of Nebraska Ethanol Producers.
