Brewing & Distilling

It’s no secret that the craft brewing and distilling industry is booming. In 2013, craft beer sales were up by more than 17 percent, and over the past 10 years, craft alcohol production has grown by 200 percent to over 15 million barrels per year!

Attendees at the 2015 Brewing & Distilling Symposia learned how to take advantage of those opportunities and trends. Discussions took place with hop farmers about growing the best raw materials and insight was gained on how intellectual property can affect the beers you brew and houw they are marketed.

Never underestimate the quiet ones - The national and global journey of a local sleepy phenomenon. What is happening? What is it about craft brewers that makes them different? They want change and for the most part, they had a previous job which didn’t bring them the most important aspect of life: contentment. They don’t wish to be bought over by somebody and therefore be back in the same position. They are artisans, it’s a movement and one which now has risen to a point where in some cities, such as Portland, craft beers dramatically outsells all of the big boys.
